Beyond a usage bar

See the limit coming.
Then keep your work moving.

Gauge turns provider-reported limits into practical decisions: when to switch models, trim context, start a fresh chat, or hand the work to another AI.

Multi-provider usage cards
View Claude 5-hour and weekly limits, ChatGPT 5-hour and weekly windows, Gemini provider windows, and Grok's weekly pool and product breakdown. Reset timing is displayed whenever the provider exposes it.
Free · provider-reported data
Live composer token counter
Token count updates as you type using a bundled o200k tokenizer — no API calls needed. A context-window bar shows this conversation's real tokens vs the model limit, broken down by files, chat history, and system prompt.
Free
Burn-rate & reset forecast
Understand whether your current pace will reach a limit before the next reset. Forecast text stays visible in Gauge; Pro adds browser notifications at your chosen warning threshold.
Free (text) · Pro (push alerts)
Context trim-coach + model advisor
"Your 3 files are 61K — detach to reclaim ~30%." One-click model switch when Opus is running low: "Switch to Sonnet for ~190 msgs." Cache timer shows the ~5-min prompt-cache countdown so you know why replies slow down.
Free
Usage history & time-of-day profile
A 7-day strip and heatmap reveal when Claude usage runs hottest and when to start heavier work. Export history as CSV or JSON. The 30-day calendar is available with Pro.
Free (7 days) · Pro (30 days)
Predictive push alerts (Pro)
Browser push notification fires once per window when you're about to run out — based on live burn rate and your custom threshold. Free users always see the prediction text in the strip; Pro adds the push so you're never caught off guard.
Pro
Always-visible toolbar badge
See your current percentage without opening another settings page. Open the popup for provider cards, active windows, reset timers, and the next recommended action.
Free
Anthropic API spend tracker
Track real month-to-date Anthropic API spend separately from Claude subscription limits, so paid API work and chat-plan usage never get mixed together.

A limit should not
stop the work.

When Claude gets full or a provider limit is close, Resume Kit prepares the conversation for ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or a fresh Claude chat—without rebuilding the context by hand.

Resume Kit — not just copy-paste
Gauge extracts your full both-sides transcript, formats it correctly for the destination AI, attaches code blocks as separate files, and opens the new tab — all in one click. The destination AI gets full context and picks up exactly where Claude left off. Copy & Download (.md) is always unlimited and free.
ChatGPT
Full transcript + code files sent to ChatGPT, formatted for GPT-style context.
Handoff destination
Gemini
Conversation handed off to Gemini with structured context ready to continue.
Handoff destination
Grok
Full context transferred to Grok via clipboard, opened in a new tab instantly.
Handoff destination
New Claude chat
Start a fresh Claude session with your conversation context pre-filled.
Handoff destination
New in Gauge 1.2.0: ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok are now usage sources as well as handoff destinations. Gauge shows the authenticated, provider-reported windows it can access—never invented token counts or made-up limits.

Your conversations are
not the product.

Gauge is designed to do its work in your browser. It reads only the usage and plan information required for its meters and does not collect your conversation content.

Local history and settings. Usage history, thresholds, and preferences stay in Chrome storage on your device.
No conversation analytics. Gauge does not build profiles from the prompts or responses in your chats.
Minimal external validation. Pro license validation is separate from your chat content.

FAQ

Questions

Which AI services can Gauge monitor? +
Gauge 1.2.0 supports Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, and Grok. It reads the authenticated usage windows each service makes available to your signed-in browser session. The exact fields and reset windows vary by provider and plan.
How does Gauge read usage without a new API key? +
When you are signed in, each supported web app requests usage information for its own interface. Gauge uses that existing authenticated browser context to display the available usage fields in one consistent view. No separate developer API key is required for subscription-limit monitoring.
What is the Resume-Kit handoff? +
When you hit your Claude limit, clicking a handoff button extracts your full both-sides conversation, formats it correctly for the destination AI (ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, or a new Claude chat), attaches code blocks as separate files, and opens the destination in a new tab. It's structured context transfer — the other AI picks up exactly where Claude left off.
Does Gauge send my conversations anywhere? +
No. Gauge has no servers. All processing is local in your browser. Usage data, history, and settings stay in chrome.storage on your device only. The only external call is to Polar.sh to validate your Pro license key — no conversation content, ever.
What does the 2× boost-window badge mean? +
Anthropic occasionally doubles usage limits during promotional windows. Gauge detects active boosts and shows a badge. Free users see the badge. Pro users also get a push notification when the boost starts so they can schedule heavy tasks around it.
Does it work on Edge, Brave, and Arc? +
Yes — any Chromium-based browser. Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and Vivaldi all supported. Firefox is not yet supported.
